  • Jason Gale, Stone Creek Custom HomesJasonJesse Pigott Jesse

Life can often seem random to us, but sometimes the chance occurrences are the ones that stick – as is the case with Stone Creek Custom Homes' two founders, Jason Gale and Jesse Pigott. We thought you might like to learn a little bit more about these two gentlemen, as they're not the kind of guys that talk much about themselves. They're usually far more interested in their clients, the work they're doing, and of course, their families. They first met over a decade ago during the time when Jason was selling land, and Jesse bought a lot from him out in Timberwood Park. Both born and raised in San Antonio – Jason went to Castle Hills First Baptist High School while Jesse attended Clark High School. They also shared (and still do!) a mutual appreciation for hunting and fishing.

Jason: I was building my house with another friend of mine, and it wasn't going as well as I thought it could have. At the same time, Jesse was building his own home with another of friend of his. I had a lot of timberwood so I approached him about building a spec house, which we sold before we were even done framing.

Jesse: It happened by chance, but one project led to another and it snowballed. That's basically how this whole thing got going. Jesse originally worked in sales in a completely different industry, but had aspirations of owning his own company.

Jesse: We love making someone else's dreams a reality. Seeing something start from a scratch pad design and evolve into something you're living in is pretty cool. As for home life, Jesse and Jason are very family-oriented and even their families spend time together, usually enjoying the outdoors. Jason used to have a single-engine plane, but sold it when the family grew bigger than what the plane could accommodate. With a lovely wife, two boys and a girl, they now spend most of their free time camping, hunting and fishing – lately offshore fishing for swordfish at Port Mansfield or Freeport. A few weeks ago, they caught 11 swordfish, including one that weighed in at 400 lbs, but most of them were released back into the ocean. Jason's family also run two fireworks stands around the Fourth of July and New Year's Eve.

Jason: It's more of a hobby. My daughter loves it. She takes charge, helps with inventory, pricing. It's a great way for her to learn how to run a business for herself. She basically does it all, and I'm just there to help. Jesse, who remarried a year ago, now has a family of five kids. He and his wife are getting ready to head back to New Orleans to celebrate their one-year anniversary.

Jesse: We go there to eat, drink and listen to good music. It's one of our favorite spots. If you want to get to know these guys even better, give them a call at 210-494-5400, and get started building your dream home.

  • Darla StrawtherDarla

You may have spoken with her on the phone or even seen her in person, but oftentimes Darla Strawther, the Office Manager for Stone Creek Custom Homes, is working behind the scenes making sure everything stays on track. Among a million other things, Darla is responsible for the accounting, ordering and coordinating with clients.

Darla: I'm pretty much a jack of all trades. I do a little bit of everything except go to the house and physically build it. Darla jokes that the biggest challenge of her job is keeping up with six men, i.e. Jason, Jesse, Brad, Blake, Jimmy and Bill, but regardless of any challenges she finds her job extremely rewarding.

Darla: I work with wonderful people – our customers and the people here, our own staff – it's a good group. Those who have worked with Stone Creek before know that the relationships we build are of the utmost importance. In fact, our relationship with Darla started back in 2008 when we built her new home at Waggener Ranch. She began working for us part-time in 2009, and then full-time in 2010.

Darla: It's all about the relationships here – it truly is! The majority of the time we have had wonderful relationships with our customers. All of us go to the same eye doctor [for example] because we built their home. We keep in contact with several of our customers. When it comes to her own family, Darla has been married to her husband for over 28 years, and they now have two grown children.

Darla: We all do CrossFit together, and we like to travel. My husband was in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years, and we lived in Germany for six, so we have traveled a lot. Last year we went to Rome, and our next trip is to Ann Arbor. When asked if she goes on in any of the hunting and fishing trips that the guys like to go on, Darla explained that although they'd certainly welcome her, it's not exactly her cup of tea.

Darla: I'm not going six miles into the ocean – no way could you get me to do that! They always bring me back some fish or deer meat. It's really nice that they do that. I don't always know where they are or what they're doing, but they're always there for you, and that's what's great about it. To talk to Darla live, give us a call at 210-494-5400. She'll make sure your next custom home project runs smoothly!

  • Blake LibertBlake

When it comes to building a beautiful brand new home for their clients, Stone Creek Custom Homes relies heavily on Building Superintendent, Blake Libert. Blake not only oversees each and every project on a daily basis, responsible for quality control and accurate design application, but he works closely with clients, who make site visits during constructions.

Blake: Every day I get to talk to almost every customer we have. We like them to know that we're always available. Blake, who was born and raised in San Antonio and has worked with the SCCH team since before he'd even graduated school.

Blake: Way back in my younger years, I used to be an electrician, and I worked on all of Stone Creek's houses back in 2003. I've known Jesse most of my life because he was friends with my cousin – so that's how I got involved with them. Blake went off to college at UTSA to obtain a degree in business, but his employer at that time couldn't work with his schedule. That's when Jesse hired him on as, essentially, a superintendent-in-training. He would oversee job sites, make sure they were organized and relay information back to owners, Jesse and Jason. If you've read our previous blogs you may not be surprised to find out that when Blake's not on a job site, you'll most likely find him hunting, fishing or golfing.

Blake: In summer, I'm at the Gulf of Mexico every weekend, usually with Jason. In the winter months, I'm out at the ranch every weekend… and maybe in spring I'm on the golf course. We just had a baby so that might change. Blake is the proud father of his first child who was born in May to him and his lovely wife, who was able to enjoy some stay-at-home time with the baby before going back to work as a Marketing Rep for Trinity Title in Stone Oak. Blake shares some insight on what it's like to be a new dad.

Blake: I'm learning that I should have listened to everyone when they said I should sleep as much as can before having a baby. It's true! But it's nice to go home every day and see her, see she's learned something new or has a different expression on her face that I've never seen before. When asked if he sees himself with SCCH for the long haul, Blake responds assuredly:

Blake: I don't see that changing. The industry is strong right now and so is Stone Creek. It's a good future for us all. To meet Blake and all the other pros on our team, give us a call at 210-494-5400, and we'll get started building your luxurious custom home.

  • Brad YnostrosaBrad

If you call or visit Stone Creek Custom Homes, the first person you're likely to meet is Brad Ynostrosa, the Director of Sales. Brad has been with the company since 2004. He relocated from Dallas to work with Jesse and Jason, but it was a long, adventurous road to get here. Brad and Jesse have known each other for over twenty years and were actually roommates in Dallas at one time, and he has been friends with Jason for over ten years. Brad was enrolled at Texas State when he decided he wanted to go into the Fire Service.

Brad: I wanted to be a firefighter, so I went back to Dallas from San Marcos in an effort to get into the fire academy and EMT school. It's not an easy career path to get into, at the time they only accepted 21 candidates out of approx. 600 applicants per year. I was blessed enough to make it in and graduate. A short time later, a good friend approached me with a very attractive opportunity to work for a home builder, and I couldn't pass it up. I wish I could have done both – I have a great deal of respect for firefighters. One thing led to another and before long Brad had experience not only building homes, but working with concrete, real estate, and building material sales. Fulfilling his desire to return to the Texas Hill Country, he and his wife took a leap of faith and moved to SA. His vast knowledge makes him an asset to Stone Creek. He goes above and beyond to help clients find the ideal land for their home and devise a truly custom floor plan that suits their lifestyle, including design needs and budget parameters.

Brad: I love it when our clients don't already have land picked out. It puts me in action! I am eager to offer up any assistance to those in need of land, it is a difficult task for those do not know what to look for. It's my job to look at land and know what it means from a cost standpoint and provide honest feedback to our customers. When it comes to his personal life, Brad is a proud husband and father of three girls, including twins that aren't identical but look identical.

Brad: We love the outdoors! As for me, my three favorite things I like to do are hunting, fishing and golf. As a family, I would say anything to do with the water or outdoors. The kids love the beach. We go to the Seaside area of Florida every year. They also love staying at my Dad's ranch. There's no place they'd rather be than at the beach or what they call, "Poppi's Cow Farm," even though my dad no longer has cows. I know I am blessed to have a job I love, three beautiful daughters, and an amazing wife that supports me in all I do (including my outdoor adventures that can sometimes take me away from home for more than a few days at a time!). Brad also enjoys offshore fishing and is gearing up for the annual guy's trip to Port Mansfield. If you're looking to meet Poppi, Brad's father moved to San Antonio part-time to be closer to his granddaughters and opened up a traditional barbershop called RY Barbershop, just outside of Timberwood Park. Come by for great conversation, and an old-school shave and a haircut! For Brad's exceptional guidance on your next home, call him anytime at 210-494-5400.

  • Brad YnostrosaBill

Sales Associate, Bill Smith, is one of the newest members of the Stone Creek Custom Homes team. He started in January of this year, and is happy to be part of the family.

Bill: What I love most about working with the Stone Creek group is just that it's more of a family atmosphere. They build an amazing product with great service and a great warranty, so it's easy to sell. Although Bill graduated from A&M with a degree in political science, he naturally gravitated towards construction. His dad, who owns a fishing tackle store, built condos and apartment projects in San Antonio and San Marcos when Bill was young, so he was exposed to the industry early on. Bill was a builder from 2000 to 2007, at which time he bought the Rebecca Creek Golf Club at 281 and renamed it Hawk Golf Club, which is where he first met Jason, whose father was developing some land around the golf course in Serenity Oaks at the time.

Bill: Although, I had met Jesse a long time before that at a builder's golf tournament. Unfortunately, the economy wasn't kind to golf courses during the recession, so Bill sold it and went back into construction on his own for a while before finally teaming up with Stone Creek. Stone Creek was one of the few local high-end custom home builders to survive the recession, which Bill explains has been a boon.

Bill: Stone Creek employed a lot of people during the recession when a lot of other builders were going out of business, so we have a lot of loyalty from the craftsmen who build homes for us. We're probably one of the fastest builders, once we get the project started. When asked what he hears most from customers, Bill joked: Bill: I'm over-budget! (laughs) Actually, we hear things like, "It's a beautiful home; it was fun and exciting." Bill has been married since 1996 to his lovely wife, and together they have a son. As a family (and this won't surprise you if you know the Stone Creek team), they like to go fishing, often at Rockport, although they recently caught some nice bass at Lake Dunlap in New Braunfels. What might be more intriguing is Bill's love of astronomy.

Bill: I have an Orion XD-10 telescope, and we like to use it a couple times a week, usually off the back porch or every now and then we go to a dark skies site out in the hill country. His son likes to look at the planets. You can see Saturn, Saturn's moons, Jupiter and Jupiter's moons… Jupiter looks awesome. You can see the bands, the spot and everything. When you're ready to get started with your new custom home, give us a call at 210-494-5400 and Bill will get you started.

  • Brad YnostrosaMichelle

Michelle Fields started working with us back in March of this year, and we're very thankful for her expertise and talent for building client relationships. Before she was in new home sales, Michelle worked for a building materials supplier.

Michelle: It all started about 15 years ago. I got into the construction side of it working for a building materials supplier. As I grew in the company, I got into outside sales. It's neat because it's kind of like peeling back different layers, from building the client relationship, to the design side, to breaking ground, and then finally handing over the keys on a project you've been talking about for 12 plus months. I'm very involved with my clients from beginning to end. Although Texas born and bred, Michelle hails from Houston. She moved to the San Antonio area – New Braunfels to be exact – when the building supply company asked her to relocate to help them expand the San Antonio-Austin market. It wasn't long before she was approached by one of the builders she worked with who asked her to come on board as a sales associate.

Michelle: After getting my feet wet in new home sales, I started seeking a company with a strong reputation and a lasting product. That's when I found Stone Creek. When asked about her experience working with Stone Creek, Michelle said:

I've been welcomed with open arms. After working for Stone Creek for 7 months now, I can say it's truly what they said it was going to be… a family atmosphere among the staff and a strong partnership with our clients. Also, because we're a smaller builder, there's a lot of flexibility for our clients. They're not stuck only using a few vendors. With Stone Creek, the sky's the limit.

When building a custom home, that's important. It was Michelle, who loves to travel, who suggested the idea to plan a Stone Creek trip to Cabo, and we couldn't be more excited. It's our sales team who has really pulled together to make it happen! Michelle and her family – her husband and two daughters, are also in the midst of planning a trip to Alaska.

Michelle: We typically travel two to three times a year and also like to go on little weekend adventures. Alaska's been on my husband's bucket list for a long time now. We're absolutely looking forward to it! Give Michelle a call at 210-494-5400, and she'll put together a full package for you!
