Meet Our Incredible Sales Associate – Bill Smith!

STD 20

Sales Associate, Bill Smith, is one of the newest members of the Stone Creek Custom Homes team. He started in January of this year and is happy to be part of the family.

Bill:  What I love most about working with the Stone Creek group is just that it’s more of a family atmosphere. They build an amazing product with great service and a great warranty, so it’s easy to sell.

Although Bill graduated from A&M with a degree in political science, he naturally gravitated towards construction. His dad, who owns a fishing tackle store, built condos and apartment projects in San Antonio and San Marcos when Bill was young, so he was exposed to the industry early on.

Bill was a builder from 2000 to 2007, at which time he bought the Rebecca Creek Golf Club at 281 and renamed it Hawk Golf Club, which is where he first met Jason, whose father was developing some land around the golf course in Serenity Oaks.

Bill: Although, I had met Jesse a long time before that at a builder’s golf tournament.

Unfortunately, the economy wasn’t kind to golf courses during the recession so Bill sold it and went back into construction on his own for a while before finally teaming up with Stone Creek. Stone Creek was one of the few local high-end custom home builders to survive the recession, which Bill explains has been a boon.

Bill: Stone Creek employed a lot of people during the recession when a lot of other builders were going out of business, so we have a lot of loyalty from the craftsmen who build homes for us. We’re probably one of the fastest builders, once we get the project started.

When asked what he hears most from customers, Bill joked:

Bill: I’m over-budget! (laughs) Actually, we hear things like, “It’s a beautiful home; it was fun and exciting.”

Bill has been married since 1996 to his lovely wife, Amy. They have an 11-year-old son named William who Bill points out is:

Bill:  Cleverly named after myself.

As a family (and this won’t surprise you if you know the Stone Creek team), they like to go fishing, often at Rockport, although they recently caught some nice bass at Lake Dunlap in New Braunfels.

What might be more intriguing is Bill’s love of astronomy.

Bill:  I have an Orion XD-10 telescope, and we like to use it a couple times a week, usually off the back porch or every now and then we go to a dark skies site out in the hill country. William likes to look at the planets. You can see Saturn, Saturn’s moons, Jupiter and Jupiter’s moons… Jupiter looks awesome. You can see the bands, the spot and everything.
